19.01.2013 - last few weeks.

Hello all you lovely people, it's been so long since I blogged that I feel like I need to do this post in a bunch of small pieces as none of these really warrant an entire post.

tonight I had dinner with Corie, who's a lady from NS who knows basically everyone I know but we'd never met before, she's currently living in Tokyo as well.
Went to this great place with amazing ramen (and I am crazy fussy!) and walked around the Shinjuku skyscraper district for a bit. Absolutely lovely evening.

30.12.2012 - decrepit halls

Hello guys,

Between yesterday & today I've taken some more conceptual photos which I thought I'd share with you all!

Yesterday's shoot happened on the roof of the building my family's staying in whilst they're in Tokyo.

Finally this, which is a pretty big step away from my regular style. 

Not really 100% sure on how I feel about it, but it's interesting to edit things differently.

Today's shoot happened on the 5th floor of the aforementioned building. 

The creepiest place I've ever been, hands down.

And my favourite self portrait that I've taken for a long, long time.

I normally find it very difficult to create the image I envisioned, which I managed to do here perfectly.

24.11.2012 - snippet

Hello all,

slept funny so my back was a bit tight this morning but it felt almost fine at work and then on my way back to the train station from the farmer's market I tripped and fell (I never used to fall down, since I moved here I've tripped like daily.) and managed to make both my knees and my back feel like they were on fire?
My knees seemed to have calmed down a bit but my neck is killing me and I have a headache again.

Poor baby.

Sorry for the lack of photos, I didn't have my camera for any part of today.

I'm actually working on a new project which is going to be a series of diptychs of self portraits taken in my room and landscapes of my experiences in japan.

I've started to put a few together in a book and I'm really really pleased with the results so far.

I may share a few once I have more that I'm psyched about.

18.11.2012 - I love Ferris Wheels.

First here are a few self portraits I actually took two weeks ago, but only got around to editing yesterday.
They're simple, but 90% of the stuff I shoot these days is.
I'm all about black and white and little details currently, it feels so day-to-day and honest to me.

Woke up this morning with two desires: to have a breakfast burrito & to ride a ferris wheel.
Bizarre, I know.

Went to work, it was good!

Stopped by the grocery store and finally found spinach which I have spend aaaages looking for. Still no kale to be found, such a travesty.

Came back and made a not-really-at-all breakfast burrito. Basically a spinach omelette served with garlic & black beans. Delicious, if basterised.

Did laundry and talked to Magnus for a bit & found the coolest sounding park online. There's an aquarium AND a ferris wheel. Seriously two of my favourite things. But unfortunately the aquarium closes at 4.30 and at this point it was like 3.50, so not today. I'm thinking I'm going to go on Friday because I have no work.
Then I set off in search of Tokyo Dome and the ferris wheel it promised me. The first centreless and, thus, spoke less, ferris wheel in the world. According to the internet, which never lies!

Turns out Tokyo Dome itself if a baseball diamond, but there's a sort of amusement park thing around it. Plus shops and awesome christmas-y lights.

Walked around for a while, bought a few Christmas presents and generally enjoyed the lights/evening.

Then I got my ferris wheel ride!
Just as good as I hoped, I even managed to squeeze a self portrait into the 10 minutes I was out of sight of the people on the ground. Skills right there. Not my best, but points for speed and the fact that I had no remote or tripod?

21.10.2012 - yoyogi rockabillies.

hello all you lovely people,

after work today I came home (didn't think to take my camera with me to work, which would have saved me so much time. bleh.) and then went to go find the Veggie Fiesta 2012 which is a vegan/vegetarian food fair in Yoyogi Koen. Unfortunately for me by the time I got there most of the stalls/people were gone so it wasn't much fun.
But! I ended up watching the Yoyogi Greasers/rockabillies for like an hour and a half.
Brilliant beyond compare.
I mean really, what could make this better?
nada, son!

The only downside was I didn't really have the right lens on for the time, since it was already starting to get dark so a lot of my photos of them actually dancing are just blurry. There are a few, but I definitely want to go back soon during the day and take more! Next time I get off work at 12 on a Sunday, it's a plan.
